ORIGIN: In 2194, the world is under the control of several despotic military regimes constantly involved in high-tech war. Project: Trace was a government sponsored science investigation into robotic seek-and-destroy units. But artificial intelligence proved no match for human. A breakthrough was made when Technician Rex Manning was severely injured, his right side crushed by some collapsing equipment. Some parts from the Tracer robots were used to rebuild him and a computer over-ride chip put in his brain to control him. Thus was born Trace, hound for the Imperial States, an unstoppable killing machine. Eventually, Manning's brain took control from the computer chip and he escaped. He still fulfilled his seek-and-destroy protocol, but this time his targets were those who had done this to him...and anyone who stood in his way.
Shortly before his imminent confrontation with his creators, Trace became embroiled in the affairs of "The Time-Lost" and was brought to our era, trapped 150 years before his birth.
