ORIGIN & HISTORY: Dr. Hermonius Brinkman was the epitome of a mad scientist. While responsible for formulas that have resulted in transformation of people into heroes (and villains), he took things a step further with his own son. Before and after Jack's birth, Dr. Brinkman tinkered with his genetics, as well as isolating him from outside influences such as television and, well, other people. Jack's sole form of entertainment was old Silver Age comic books his father allowed him to read, instilling classic virtues in the lad, if leaving him a bit naive. Some time after the Rikti invasion, Dr. Brinkman dispatched the newly monickered "Decorum" to Paragon City to aid in the reconstruction and reclamation efforts.

However, within a week of his arrival, a combination his genetic instability and exposure to factors in the outside world for the first time drove Decorum into a coma, forcing his father to leave his Evanston, Illinois Compound for the first time in decades to treat him for his illness.

Some weeks after his arrival in Paragon City, Decorum's deeds inspired the new heroes Kid Decorum and Deportment.

After becoming infected with the Vahzilok Plague, Decorum was electrocuted in a thunderstorm, causing his unstable genetics to adapt both his body and powers. His skin became bright red, his eyes became pupil-less, his hair became black and his facial features were altered. He became slightly stronger, but not as durable. He lost the ability to fly, but gained super-speed. It was during this time that Decorum took the identity and costume of Thunderfist. Thunderfist became a media darling, especially attracting the attention of neophyte reporter Jennifer Janes, whom Decorum developed confused feelings for. He was eventually returned to normal after an incident at the Terra Volta reactor, although secretly, and Jennifer Janes started an investigation into Thunderfist's disappearance.

During a battle in which Count Camus had summoned various characters from cartoon media to aid him, Decorum assisted King Lionidas to remain in Paragon City's reality.

POWERS & ABILITIES: Decorum's genetic alterations make him a powerful energy storehouse. His flesh is far denser than human and able to withstand a great deal more punishment. Channeling his energy through his fists, he gives stunning blows and knocks foes around like tissue paper. He can use his energies to fly, or to project heat rays from his eyes.

INSPIRATIONS: Superman, Captain Marvel

Decorum is, of course, my homage to Superman, the "Big Blue Boy Scout, the "first superhero" ... Decorum was the first CoH character I created (one of the "Original Six") ... Decorum was originally created on Virtue, where he achieved level 22, until I recreated him on Victory after joining the Legion of Valor ... Virtue Decorum was Super Strength instead of Energy Melee and the blue in his costume was darker ... the "Thunderfist Incident" is a reference to the Electric Blue Superman of the late '90s ... Decorum's naivete is a nod to Keith Giffen's mid-'80s Capt. Marvel ... I decided to make the suit diamond-fabric to explain Invulnerability's many glowing special effects.
